Demetri Martin teaches presentation skills using a Large Pad

I spend a bit of time in presentations, whether giving them, watching them or coaching presenters on how to be more effective in giving them.

One of the challenges for all presenters is the appropriate use of visuals. Enter the beast that shall not speak its name.

Presentations are hard. They involve a combination of skills that most people either don’t have or don’t want in order to get up in front of a room full of people and deliver something that’s worth everybody’s time.

For this reason, I like Demetri Martin, and in particular this video of him performing his Large Pad set.

Like most comedians Demetri has overcome the first problem of presenting – actually wanting to do it. But in particular I wanted to share this video of his Large Pad set; partly because I think it’s a great example (albeit an inadvertent one) of how to use visuals effectively, and partly because I’ve just spent 27 minutes looking for the bloody thing.

And if you happen to know how to embed a video from Break.com into WordPress so it plays in here then please do let me know so I can update this.
